Resort Information: Les Gets
Stay in a beautiful winter ski chalet on the doorstep of the Portes-du-Soleil ski area! Les Gets has a wide variety of accommodation, including catered and self-catered options for your winter or summer chalet holiday!
Traditional family town
Les Gets is a traditional Savoyard town, superbly situated as the Western anchor of the Portes du Soleil, one of the largest linked international ski areas in the world.
The resort is set in a picturesque valley between Mont-Cheri and the Pleney pistes, and has a distinct charm with its traditional chalet style architecture.
On the East side, convenient links in the Portes du Soleil allow easy access to the nearby Swiss resorts of Morgins and Champéry, and the French resorts of Châtel and Les Gets, or over into Avoriaz for some more testing runs.
On the West side of the valley is Mont Cheri, which is where the locals choose to ski (the east side is more a tourist mountain).
Mont Cheri has more challenging pistes, including all the black runs in Les Gets.

There are several good spots for off-piste skiing and snowboarding, the best of which are; to the sides of 'Yeti', the long black run off Mt. Chammossiere and also by taking a short hike from the top of the Ranfoilly lift. the latter has been rated as one of the best off piste powder bowls in Europe (although there is very often a high chance of avalanches).
The snowpark is located on Mt. Chery, which is on the ski area on the other side of the village. A bus connects the 2 sides however it takes just as long to walk. The snowpark has kickers, a spine, rails, boxes, a boarder cross and new for 07-08 was a large air bag. The park is fairly small and served by a 2 man chairlift.
Children's skiing - Les Gets has an area of the mountain for children only, le Grande Cry. This has 2 button lifts and several runs, all themed around trappers and Indians. They hold weekly treasure hunts for children.
Although situated at a fairly low altitude the snow record is excellent and the skiing offered is particularly good for beginners and intermediates. Families should find Les Gets an attractive venue with great ski school provision for the little ones. Ski-to-your-door accessibility is also a huge bonus. If you are looking for nightlife and non-skiing activities, though, Les Gets can be a little sleepy. There are a couple of clubs, but not the variety of other resorts.
Walk into town
Non-skiers will also be happy to wander around the bustling streets, with plenty of shops, bars, cafés and restaurants to suit everyone.
Les Gets is very easy to get to from the motorway, making it popular with self-drive guests and families from all over Europe.
Les Gets is an excellent all-round family resort offering a traditional Savoyarde welcome.
