Chalet Adonis

A new-build chalet designed with entertaining and ski holidays in mind, Chalet Adonis is available now for your ski holiday. Run by an enthusiastic pairing of an experienced New Zealand chef and a Hostess with many years expereince making people welcome, the Chalet thrives on the reputation of their welcome and their food. Determined to be child friendly, the Chalet has in-house child care available and large family-flexible rooms to accommodate you.

The facilities of the chalet include a lovely new hot-tub on the terrace, and an indoor sauna and treatment room on the lower level. Access to the Chalet is via a boot room to store your skis and boots in the warm and out of the way. The entire main level is an open plan dining and lounge area, for very social evenings.

There are four fully en suite guest bedrooms in Chalet Adonis. All contain beds that can be made up as double beds comfortable, or separated to form twin beds for mixed groups. The two outer rooms have private balconies to take the night or morning air, whereas the two inner bedrooms have extra room in the form of loft mezzanine levels which are usually made up with two or three extra full-size adult beds. All the beds are new and comfortable, and the en suites have full shower enclosures.

Exquisite Cuisine, prepared in front of you

Chalet Adonis is sold as catered, but that doesn't begin to describe it. A full breakfast is served each morning, to prepare you for your day's ski, including fruit, orange juice, pastries yoghurts and cereals, as well as a selection of cooked foods different each day. Typically this is something like Eggs Benedict one morning, followed by New Zealand style pancakes the next. Afternoon tea is served in front of the log fire when you return from the slopes to warm you up as well.

The 6-course evening meal, however, is a lot more than you would have come to expect from a Chalet Holiday! The Chef prepares the meals in an open kitchen directly beside the dining table, and has many years experience in the restaurants of New Zealand. The open kitchen helps to maintain the friendly and informal atmosphere in the Chalet and guests are invited and encouraged to perch at the bar and watch the chef at work preparing your meal.

You will be gently eased into the meal with two entree courses followed by a palate-cleanser, then treated to a sumptuous main course. Anyone who survives this delightful gastronomic onslaught, will be finished off with hand-made desserts and a cheese course. Served with an excellent selection of wine (the Chalet consults experts and attends wine-shows pre-season to stock their cellar), the meal is finished off with coffee and chocolates before you retire to the outdoor hot-tub to recover.

For the little ones, a child-friendly supper can be prepared and served earlier, so that they can then be put to bed before your meal commences or occupied with entertainments in the adjacent TV Lounge.

In-house Child-care options

Definitely child-friendly, this year the chalet helper is a also available as a Nanny on a day to day basis for fixed and reasonable rates. They are available to drop your children off to ski-school, pick them up and feed them a lunch and then supervise them on the toboggan run behind the Chalet while you enjoy a blissful day of uninterrupted skiing.

A quick start to the Skiing each day

People staying at Chalet Adonis usually ski from either the Ardent or Super-Morzine Telecabins. Morzine is a thriving ski-hub enjoying more and more popularity each season. From this chalet, you can gain quick access via the Ardent Telecabin to Lindarets, from which you can access the entire Portes-du-Soleil with it's 650km of piste and great off-piste. The advantage of starting your day at Lindarets is that you can avoid the Avoriaz area (and it's queues) completely during busy periods. Should you feel like a change, you can also easily access the Nyon and Le Pleney ski lifts leading over to the Les Gets resort area.

The chalet is located 1 hour and 15 minutes drive from Geneva Airport where there are many rental car companies. Alternatively private transfers for guests can be arranged.

All the rooms are equipped with flexible beds which can be joined to form a double, or separated into distinct single beds. Several rooms are much larger than they need to be, and cots and high-chairs are happily provided by the experienced hosts. Guests are provided with all linen and towels, as well as fluffy bath robes for using the hot tub.

Chalet Adonis changes over on Sundays during season. Christmas week can be either Saturday or Sunday change-over.
